the last year has been a great one, fortunately we can look back on art shows, releases, collaborations, live performances and new productions. kunstwerden and sven piayda have finally opened the ‘needle in the multiverse’ solo show. the exhibition gained expected success and turned out to be functional from a technical and an aesthetical point of view. after three years of preparation the studio has announced to not focus an a new solo show concept in the near future. next to this solo show it was great to see ‘slinky spings dune’ at kunsthaus essen for ‘HOME (call the curator)’ and ‘model: 1989 ford probe (car#1) after christopher williams’ at galerie an der ruhr. at the end of the year piayda´s music video for record of tides called ‘illumination interlude’ was and the lisaluna shortfilm festival as announced and postponed in 2021. in 2022 sven piayda collaborated with a number of outstanding artists, all of these collaborations appear to be continued. together with jan-dirk platek the remarkable mini ep ‘expotential/frequentism’ was released, platek and piayda are rexently working on a follow-up. christopher terhart appeard as monkelmann on record of tides ‘penicilina’ album on the track ‘vorwegnahme’. terhard is recently finishing his experimental short movie ‘kaivalya’ which will feature music by sven piayda based upon beatless tracks from the purchases series. dean heuke released as prjct fear his debut album. it also features the collaborative ‘fly away song’ which can also be found on the collaborative compilation album ‘songbook’, it is also believed to be part of record of tides’ upcoming album. michael schreiber a.k.a. primals scapes has released his second album ‘macrocosm’ featuring sven piayda on guitar for all tracks. their on-going collaborations for different projects appear to legendary productive and easy. without any fixed plans, we can expect future collaborative projects. the studio has struck up a new collaboration with english interdisciplinary artist and producer phil barnett. back in 2008 barnett was producing nature inspired and adaptive electronica as squinancywort, so he and AESTATE started swapping remixes which have been released on ‘patch’, which is still available from zany music. now barnett and piayda are working on a visual collaboration to merge nature and technology. the picture above is a reinterpretation of their portraits as delivered by phil barnett himself. he hope for the common visual piece to be finished in early 2023. the studio is recently working on a large portfolio update for 2023. also long-term projects like the ‘little dancer of fourteen years (posing/refusing)’ video piece and further drafted works are supposed to be finished and offered for exhibition. scheduled any shows beyond but has announced to finally finish long term productions. zany music has released two albums as part of the ‘purchases’ series called ‘panamerican’ and ‘penicilina’. both appear remarkably different, electronic, organic and full of surprises. according to rumours at zany music, one or more albums are expected to be added to the series. also the ‘collected riffing works’ series got sequel. it is hard to believe that there will not be more, even if nothing is on schedule. you may take the jams labelled as ‘connected riffing jerks’ as expansion of the album ben involved into song oriented projects: as already mentioned piayda played guitar for michael schreiber´s primal scapes project and helped to create an outstanding synth rock album. sven piayda studio is proud to have collaborated with michael schreiber again for the artwork of his second solo album as primal scapes entitled ‘macrocosm’. the imagery is based upon a series of generative images entitled ‘random chaos’ based upon schreiber´s pixel randomizer transferred into a cgi rendered surface. the series was produced and added to the portfolio in 2020 but has not be exhibited since. the artwork features a rendering of all three works of the series processed into one image. on december 16 michael schreiber streamed the album and did a q&a live on youtube escorded by collaborators andreas hilburg and sven piayda. via this event the album was released physically on compact disc and digitally distributed via bandcamp. next to primal scapes second album, piayda teamed up with the primal scapes rhythm section to for architects of utter destruction and released the debut album ‘monument’. as this is another on/off long-term project, we hope to get a follow-up album next year as drummer jan van aachen already announced to have finished a bunch of tracks to be recorded by the rest of the band. the music is believed to be finished, recordings are delayed by ‘expotential/frequentism’ on january 13, 2023. the new ep will be called 'boxes’, featuring three new collaborative tracks. the release will be available via bandcamp and streaming, the streaming delta. the album was originally released on march 20, 2012 on digital kunstrasen as mp3 bundle. after digital kunstrasen closed in 2014 the album vanished from the net in 2015. zany music brought the album back ten years later as redux version in different digital formats. ‘space of entire retreat’ now contains a brighter cover without lettering, edits on particular songs, a new track order and a new microsite. here you can also watch the videos for ‘blossom’, 'you breath underwater’ and ‘high times’. the re-release was originally scheduled for march 18 but it was postponed for one week in order to advertise the component recordings vostok sos/red cross ukraine charity compilation. the band was started as a side project from AESTATE and formed by piayda and huff with support by rockenfield. there have been songs written and pre-produced for a follow-up album, but it has never been finished. some of these songs are believed to be found on ‘monument’ by architects of utter destruction. ‘space of entire retreat’ can be seen as legit follow up album to the last sven solo album ‘the senary process’ while it is obviously not part of the series. back in 2012 piayda announced to have started the project to withdraw from the omnipresence of social media and messages. the title is inspired by georg winter´s sculpture ‘space of total retreat’ as presented at museum folkwang for ‘hacking the city’ in 2010. penrosedelta.aestate-online.com dealing with the on-going humanitarian disaster in ukraine, providence (rhode island, usa) based label component recordings releases a compilation featuring artists from all around the world in the genres of electronic music, experimental, ambient, industrial, techno and related styles. the call was initiated by the musicians from snowbeasts (elizabeth virosa and robert galbraith from providence, usa) and kai niggemann (cologne, germany). they have received hundreds of submissions from over 27 countries, from all over the world, selected, grouped and assembled an album that is an intense sonic journey through many different styles of electronic music. there are nearly 200 tracks of amazing quality on this album, making this one of the longest albums ever released on bandcamp. visual artists noah g hirka designed the artwork for this album. all proceeds from the sale of this compilation will be split evenly between 2022-12-01 primal scapes ‘macrocosm’ release, live stream and q&a, dec 16

on december 16, primal scapes aka michael schreiber will finally release his second solo album. ‘macrocosm’ will once again feature sven piayda on guitar, chris huff on bass and jan van aachen on drums. schreiber has already produced ‘entertain’ (2020) with this band, electronic musician and keyboardist andreas hilburg expands the line-up for the track ‘desperdida’. the recording sessions have started directly after finishing the debut album in july 2021 without fixing any release dates. van aachen, huff and piayda have released their debut album ‘monument’ as architects of utter destruction in the meantime in february 2022. the new album turns out to be a synth rock album far away from pure electronic music. the sleeve design and artwork has been produced by schreiber and piayda, based upon schreiber’s pixel randomizer programming, piayda developed a series of pictures showing cgi surfaces. these pictures have been processed ending up in the album artwork. on friday, december 16, primal scapes will celebrate the release with a live stream event. starting at 8 pm schreiber will stream the full album via youtube, as he has directed videos for every single song. between the videos michael schreiber and sven piayda will discuss the production process and will also answer questions, which will be delivered via chat. additionally, a surprise guest will probably show up. watch on youtube, 2022-12-16, 8 pm check out the primal scapes youtube channel ‘macrocosm’ will be available as digipack compact disc as well as in numerous digital formats, distributed via bandcamp and zany music. michael schreiber states: work on the album started in the early summer of 2021. the plan was to be done by the end of 2021, and it was so quiet here partly because everything took much longer when you think it through. the motto was ‘done when it's good’ - we lived it and we definitely didn't mind going every extra metre this time. 2022 record of tides appeared live for three times, a live performance, a hdj set and an av live set. as these performances focus on the sample and synth based music of record of tides, sven piayda has been considering on how to bring up live music from the ‘collected riffing works’ albums or the architects of utter destruction debut album. as forming a new band is not an option, it is considered to perform live guitar to a pre-produced backing track. incidentally and not announced, piayda appeared live for a jam session at anyway, essen, on septmeber 15. as the this way of performing live turned out to be simple and convincing, future dates for jams are supposed to come up. on the basis of ‘collected rigging works’ these live events will be called ‘selected shredding last sunday the essen-based kunstverein kunstwerden opened of the new sven piayda solo exhibition entitled ‘needle in the multiverse’ as curated by petra steinhardt who opened the show with a great speech. the show combines multiple disciplines contributing and ensemble to the show´s topic. sven piayda and the studio would like to thank petra steinhardt and david kumpernas for making the show possible as well as everyone joining the opening. the press text states a following: in his solo exhibition for kunstwerden sven piayda combines photography, video, cgi, found footage, multiples, sound and music to create a multi-aesthetic experience. an almost half-hour animated film and the one-hour soundtrack enable immersive immersion - as well as a memory game on display, which makes it possible to experience the crux of fixed rules when viewing things. full of cross-references to science, art history, and pop culture, the works from the last nine years quote nasa's probe missions, de saussure's linguistic models, leonardo da vinci's landscapes, beethoven’s unfinished 10th symphony and hugh everett's multiverse theory. the exhibition reflects the observation of things with limited means between infinite zooming out and authentic self-reflection: is the answer to the question of divine genius to be found in the interuniversal, in the transcendent or in ourselves? in case of having missed the opening you will get a second chance to meet the artist within the exhibiting. the upcoming weekend of september 17 & 18 will offer the ‘kunstspur’, an event wich allows visitiors to enter open studios, galleries and off-spaces. kunstwerden will also open the doors on saturday and sunday for visitors to experience the exhibition. sven piayda will join the event on saturday at 4 pm, so there will be an opportunity to discuss the show and single works, to get background info and get in touch. at 7 pm the two piece band ‘7even til 11even’ will perform interpretations of songs appearing slightly different than the original game, while playing the players will have to modify the rules to get along with the game. michaela best already reported on instagram about testing the piece: when I was a child I have been a memory master. today I have unpacked this ability again to win a more complex variation of the memory the first time - the multiverse memory by sven piayda. it is our massive pleasure to announce the opening of the new sven piayda solo exhibition at essen-based kunstverein kunstwerden on sunday, september 11 at 4 pm. the show will be entitled ‘needle in the multiverse’ as curated by petra steinhardt and will combine multiple disciplines and aesthetic impressions. the kunstverein kunstwerden and piayda considered working together back in 2013 and have scheduled a 2020 show back in autumn 2019. the show was originally scheduled for november 8, 2020 but as a result of the covid-19 pandemic the show had to be postponed up to now. the studio has been working on this project for over three years now and has updated the show with a 2022 video piece and a transparent vinyl record. during the lockdown certain sneak peeks have already been posted via news and journal. sven piayda has mentioned that this might be his last solo show, as the studio will focus on group show participations and looking for enhanced ways of presentation. the press text at kunsthaus essen, the ‘metropole ruhr’ is discussed as a storehouse of knowledge and production site for artistic work. in each chapter, various coordinates and references are called up, taking into account certain focal points. the kunsthaus essen functions as a connecting basis in its capacity as exhibition venue, research module and signpost for possible axes of vision that allow a new perception of regionally located art production.parallel to the exhibitions in the kunsthaus, imaginary paths through the ruhr region are marked out for the visitor's own exploration, leading, among other things, to art in public spaces, historical cultural assets and selected collections of the region. with the project ‘call the curator’, the exhibition series HOME! even if this year is the third in a row which makes it difficult to schedule live events, we are happy to tell you that record of tides will return live in 2022. the information available still remains rare but piayda has confirmed to return to the szeniale festival in gelsenkirchen on august 20 with an audio-visual set. the festival was originally announced for 2021 but postponed due pandemic-based issues. earlier this year, on may 21, record of tides will also perform an audio live set among further artists at the opening of heilig kreuz kirche in gelsenkirchen as emschertainment infection numbers would go down again. as a result of the covid-19 pandemic a fixed opening date had not been announced. possible exhibition periods and opening dates had been discussed, an opening in 2021 and spring 2022 turned to be impossible due infection numbers or schedule difficulties. now kunstwerden and the studio are working on bringing up the show in september and october 2022, fixed we are extremely pleased to announce the redux re-release of ‘space of entire retreat’, the debut and only album by penrose delta. the album was originally released on march 20, 2012 on digital kunstrasen as mp3 bundle. after digital kunstrasen closed in 2014 the album vanished from the net in 2015. now there is a second chance for a first impression: zany music brings the album back ten years later as redux version in different digital formats. ‘space of entire retreat’ now contains a brighter cover without lettering, edits on particular songs, a new track order and a new microsite. here you can also watch the videos for ‘blossom’, 'you breath underwater’ and ‘high times’. the re-release was originally scheduled for march 18 but it was postponed for one week in order to advertise the component recordings vostok sos/red cross ukraine charity compilation. the band was started as a side project from AESTATE and formed by piayda and huff with support by rockenfield. there have been songs written and pre-produced for a follow-up album, but it has never been finished. some of these songs are believed to be found on ‘monument’ by architects of utter destruction. ‘space of entire retreat’ can be seen as legit follow up album to the last sven solo album ‘the senary process’ while it is obviously not part of the series. back in 2012 piayda announced to have started the project to withdraw from the omnipresence of social media and messages. the title is inspired by georg winter´s sculpture ‘space of total retreat’ as presented at museum folkwang for ‘hacking the city’ in 2010. penrose delta ‘space of entire retreat [redux]’ is out on zany music and distributed via bandcamp penrosedelta.aestate-online.com the aim of digital kunstrasen was the non commercial publishing of all kinds of arts, such as music or lyrical texts. the decision about the released depended on the quality of the single releases as well as the personal taste of the label operators [thomas kempka and meik puppe]. this label was more involved music and so up to now, there were more than 120 musical releases [among AESTATE, penrose delta and renert trio] since 2005. since july 2007, the label published a magazin that was scheduled to come out each two months as pdf file. all releases were licensed under creative commons license cc by-nc 3.0. in 2014, both label manager decided to quit this label and offer no new releases anymore. all previous released were available until 2015. kempka and puppe announced that the internet changed and ‘creative people from all kinds of music and arts have the possibility to present them online’. when the netlabel was founded, platforms like bandcamp or soundcloud did not exist yet. due to the fact about platforms like myspace, bandcamp and other, ‘netlabel are not needed anymore’. 2022-02-25 architects of utter destruction debut album ‘monument’ out now
