announced as record of tides – mixes for decades, sven piayda presents a series of carefully edited hdj sets on radio makro that were created over the past twenty years for a wide range of occasions which differ significantly in their orientation: stylistically, the episodes span between electro, rock, and hip hop, between touching and challenging material from both mainstream and the obscure, between charmingly cheesy moments and genuine rarities.

the series of ten episodes functions as a personal archive that also offers a retrospective on two decades of musical sets – often created apart from his own productions.

having started on august 18, 2026, with mahorka (planck tone side a) (2026), the one-hour-edit mixes will air on radio makro every third (or second) tuesday at 9 pm and are also supposed to appear in radio makro’s mixcloud archive, featuring re-edited or re-imagined fontless covers.

piayda hosted and produced ‘zany hour’ on radio makro from october 2025 to march 2026 but quit the show after six announced episodes of the first season because of production effort and limited audience response. nevertheless, piayda brought matthias danberg and tim cierpiszewski to radio makro for airing re-edited episodes of their common podcast ‘breaking the spell’. as radio makro’s mixcloud archive allows using music from mainstream artists, the radio station appeared as an ideal platform for bringing back record of tides’ ‘mixes for decades’.

the makroscope in mülheim an der ruhr launched radio makro, it´s online-based community radio curated by katharina geling on october 19, 2025, the station is on air and presenting music and shows since.

the program also features 'zany hour', sixty minutes of songs and tracks from zany music. here sven piayda himself picks songs and tracks from the zany music label catalogue which is growing since 1999. the episodes focus on artists like AESTATE, architects of utter destruction, the flamma piayda complex, penrose delta, record of tides, primal scapes as well as on collaborations and guest artist features.

on november 5, 2025, michael schreiber and sven piayda recorded nerdy talk at primal scapes studios for zany hour episodes 3, 4 and 5 reviewing common productions and remarkable tracks from the catalogue.

escorting the last three episode zany music additionally presents it´s first official podcast called the deep dive. the three available episodes in english language as produced by NBLM are hosted by kim & jay and are available from the zany hour microsite exclusively. honouring michael schreiber as guest and co-producer of selected zany hour episodes, the first deep dive podcast will be discussing primal scapes.

in episode 6 piayda phoned in his farewell words to the listeners of the radio station, he originally left a message that made a hint at plans for a second season of zany hour or a new show concept. in january 2026 he was phoning it in a new message on quitting the show and leaving radio makro.

as piayda produced radio shows including mixes and talks for radio makro while being unhappy with the station, so he left the radio station after six episodes. as all the shows feature an amount of invested time and effort by everyone involved the productions are now set to return randomly.
