before we all start to celebrate the end of the year i would like to tell you that i am quite happy that x-mas is over and that no one has hurt. sometimes, especially on days like today when the sky is even darker and more grey than usually, i somehow get euphoric. sometimes it feels very ill, but on days like today i know exactly where it comes from. most of you know for months that a follow up album to diptych was planned, but because of other projects and disorientation thins like this are always delayed. before i go and record songs, ah, i mean an album, i have to carefully order my compositions and then i start to program loops and play around with my own samples. and here it is, the backup of trinity is already done. there are only a few steps until i can record the other, the organic stuff. do not ask me for any dates now, but i want to tell you, that trinity will be less electronic (more than portrait less than diptych) and it will be heavier than anything i have recorded before.

2003-12-22 baunachten aftermath, happy x-mas to all of you | entry by sven
 

ok, this party is over. as you know we had a very special x-mas party an i think this is the right place to thank phoenix for her effort on making baunachten. this party seemed to be far to long and it became late, now iīm looking for my old condition to be strong enough to carry home all my countless christmas presents. anyway, the next baunachten party is less than a year away and, hey, there are other things in need to be celebrated: 100th saturday anniversary, for example. did i mention that i am already exited for summer??? iīm looking forward. actually. by the way, you might have read in the news, that i have been working on the artwork photography for "gift", the dissident(en) club debut. well, i finished it and wow, it really looks good. 2004 will be a year of releases: dissident(en) club, record of tides and, i hope i do not tell to much, a new sven album. but still, one step and then the other.

what is meant by x-mas in dessau or baunachten, as i like to call it? well, there will be an all special private christmas party at the headquarter of sven and phoenix where there will be stylish foods and drinks and they will be all in a very pure way in exact one month from this time. like the fantastic design of ikea, which is bauhaus for students and everyone else, by the way!

while we are now akads there is more than one good reason to keep the flag high!

maybe you are one of the chosen persons who will have an invitation in their post office in a short while! maybe? and no, in spite of our affection for interactive download things, you can not just download an invitation! sorry!

but donīt be sad if your not invited. all fans of our website are in our hearts at the time of happiness and cake-overload! happy x-mas time to all of you!!

2003-11-19 daft punk interstella 5555 update + gorillaz information for free | entry by phoenix
 

the anime musical version of daft punks fabulous album discovery is available on dvd on the 2003-11-27. a must-have for every daft punk and/or anime fan, cause anime legend leiji matsumoto is responsible for the excellent animation. -see? anime is short for animation! ;-)- remember all those anime from your childhood? matsumoto did all that captain future, captain harlock and queen millenia (in german: königin der tausend jahre) stuff. now that two/three masterminds have unite thereīs no excuse for anyone not to help them makin mo money!!

now, some dvd facts: dolby digital 5.1 surround sound/stereo; screen format 16:9 anamorph; 90 minutes short; and not to be seen of an age under 6! ha!

besides: the dvd is also available as a special edition with a cd. it is not clear what will be on this cd but weīll keep you informed!

now to something not so completely different! the also fantastic gorillaz -remember the dancing zombiesque gorillaz?- got an dvd already available. itīs with video clips, storyboards, documentaries, multi-angling and interactive features. if itīs only half as good as their interactive part on their website -if it would have been working!- than it must be a must-have, too!! it is also in dolby digital 5.1 surround or dd 2.0 stereo; screen format is 4:3 and 174 minutes long!! wow. and guess what: everyone may watch it, no matter the age! i, for myself, was scared by the zombie-gorillaz and rapping djinies!

2003-11-13 christmas in dessau. the perfect fusion of design and christianity | entry by sven
 

this year after all this trouble nina and i have found out that we are indeed influenced by the famous design school bauhaus just as much as we are coined by pre-bauhaus thinkers like the arts and crafts movement, the pre-raphaelits and deutscher werkbund. anyway, bauhaus tops it all. after making fun of each other because of our classic modern design orientation we accepted our fate and decided to push it. now, christmas is getting closer and what seems more natural than to link our passions? now there will be minimal instead of kitsch, thatīs all, christmas will stay the same, but, well... in a bauhaus design. we will tell you what this all means an what it could mean for you...

we have been to sichtwerk04 today, the exhibition by art and design students of the university of essen. i assembled myself in 2002 and 2001 (check the news archive) my expectations were very high. this time i came to sichtwerk as an ordinary visitor, looking for new directions in future art. my family joining the exhibition with me and i were quite disappointed, there were only one room filled with works, in comparison to previous years this looks quite poor. i always liked the whole range of works and disciplines shown next to each other, it was never easy to find favourites, there were so much good stuff. this time it is more difficult. please do not get me wrong, i appreciate every student and every work, but in some cases, i would have liked to get more. on the other hand i was impressed by the high quality of photographic works, nothing revolutionary, but high standard. they did not allow to take them off the wall to hang them at home. in the end there is a laughing and a crying eye, i hope sichtwerk05 will also come up with quantity next to quality.

doerte asked me to go to cinema with her, i usually do not like to go to cinema (there is only crap these days) but interstella 5555 got my full interest. phoenix and awo followed us. and yes, it was great, while the concept is very simple: you listen to daft punkīs fabolous album "discovery" and watch an anime by a great manga drawer whose name i cannot spell. but there is always a but: the sound was quite bad, the balance was too far right, and -even worse- the music was stretched, it was slower than the original. very bad. anyway, i am waiting for the dvd in the end of this year. including us there have been only 10 people in the showing room, interstella will be taken off the program soon.

"i know it might be not cool to listen to robert palmerīs music, but in case of quality i guess i do not care. one of todayīs most talented musicans passed away, i would have expected his career to be much longer. if you have never listened to the "honey" album, you have definitely missed one of only a few really good albums. i do not mean many good songs, i mean a brilliant album. i feel very shocked, the non-rockstar died too soon. for me it it is like a deja vu, i remeber layne staley and my confessions of disorientation last year. there would have been so much more to expect..."
