2011-12-27 2011 synopsis: past, present and future

in retrospective, a year appears short. actually this one was full of events. sven piayda contributed works for several exhibitions, AESTATE put out three releases and there was also enough live performing and deejaying.
so far, 2011 is the year with a maximum number of exhibitions, even in great places: ludwig galerie schloss oberhausen, the kuno lange atelier, KPR, galerie sohle 1 and of course galerie143 - just to name a few.
this year has a lot in output, quality and success.
the first exhibition for 2012 is annonced today, a work on commission for leverkusen, band of twelve, see announcement below.
next highlight: dortmund based galerie143 will do a sven piayda solo show in may and june.

AESTATE have been more valid than ever before, releasing the "prov aiida ep" serving the fantastic track from superflat escorted by outstanding remixes by fellow artists. a free must have!
in april "carbonized" came out on zany music to be the follow up the superflat, carrying on the sound.
with the autumn release "remount 3.10" the group really opens their sound to post rock, surprising with guitars and drums.
"remount 3.20" is expected in 2012, also the group is about to finish another ep and they are working on album number four. more tba.
AESTATE´s live perfomances were great, playing at the new FZW and the KAUE. also a dj set brought electronica into the anyway, a big success!
future dates are in the making.

as the year is going to an end and everyone is focussing on chistmas, we would like to focus on the last open art show for 2011 with sven piayda´s contribution.
until december 23, one day before christmas, you will have the opportunity to visit the "offene galerie" at galerie143 in dortmund.
take your chance to discover young positions by nrw-based artists.
the show features piayda´s well known work "herbarium show".you can visit the gallery now every friday and saturday during 4 to 6 pm.

2011-12-12 dj kent granyon & sven piayda dj set aftermath

that´s been a blast, a short reviwew of last saturday´s performance. as scheduled for months, dj kent granyon and sven piayda did their common dj set on metal at the ANYWAY. having more records and songs than time to play, the guys did a seven hour set ending late night - or morning?!
the performnace recieved great feedback, even beacuse they did a wide interpretation of metal, so the ANYWAY as well as the djs decided to return next year with a new motto.
be prepared!

dj kent granyon about to crossfade, the guys made a great set, no pauses, actually some surprises.

the great posters were everywhere, let´s see what the new motto poster will look like, all in 2012, do not miss it!

2011-12-04 dj kent granyon & sven piayda dj set next saturday night

next saturday the ANYWAY will serve a very special event to you. dj kent granyon and sven piayda will do a dj set together promissing to drop metal and rock tunes only. both have been deejaying at the ANYWAY alone for several times, now they finally do a show on saturday night together.
dj kent granyon has been supporting and working with AESTATE this year so the guys hat the idea to come up with a common dj set as finale for 2011 before working on new perfomances next year.
so this even is also the last AESTATE related performance for this year.

granyon and piayda have promised not only to play guitar related heavyness, they will also deejay with compact discs without any preproduction or laptop usage. have a look at that, tickets are free, this is supposed to be fun!
everything und METAL ON METAL.

sven piayda during the last set at the ANYWAY, giving the AESTATE GRAND PRIX ELECTRONICA dj set, bringing electronca tunes to the venue. actually a unique and successful experiment, pulling in a greater audience. we expect a full house even for METAL ON METAL.

2011-11-26 BLICKE and KPR X opened and recommended

as it was schedulded for weeks now, the double event weekend is running. on thursday, the BLICKE festival was opened, see picture above: during the opening of the video installation area by BLICKE head gabi hinderberger, sven piayda gave some background info on the presented work THE GERAT ESCAPE.
the installation will be screened until sunday, as long as the festival is running.
today, saturday nov 26, the BLICKE festival will visit the current museum folkwang show on aernout mik, guided by dr. sabine-maria schmidt. we hope to see you there (aditionally the museum is doing a book sell out concerning their own editions, have a look!)

the KPR X show featured different positions in disciplines and styles again. also it made some familiar works from 2011 return to the public: dormancy and insomnia are back again (as seen at qqtec "licht") and lightyears as monitor installation in a small chamber, more appropriate than at the kaue last month.
above you see h. peter rose chatting with piayda about photography and the necessity of art and culture in society issues. mr. rose had opened the show before.

2011-11-19 double event weekend: BLICKE and KPR X

this last november weekend is full of events: paralelly the BLICKE film festival in bochum will show piayda´s the great escape as video installation on all days of the festival.
additionlly, the kunst peripherie ruhrstadt will launch their project number 10, short X, subtitle "licht an".
so, the group show will feature recent works by piayda dealing with light. you will be able to see dormancy and insomnia, lightyears is scheduled for the show, but not confirmed due the location issues.

we hope to see you at the group show or the festival, sven piayda has cofirmed to join both openings, BILCKE in thursday and KPR X on friday.

2011-11-14 sohle 1 'tischsitten' aftermath / november dates

yesterday, on sunday november 14, the sohle 1 gallery in bergkamen celebrated the end of the 'tischsitten' exhibition with a great finissage.
for the last time curator dr. ellen markgraf lead through the exhibition giving info on position and relevance for the show.

above you see dr. markgraf (fifth from left) surrounded by the participating artists who joined the great show.

all artists and staff as well as all visitors complimented the quality of the whole show and the quality on the unique positions. in this exhibition - more than usually - even the participating artist showd interest for other positions and works.

the museum bergkamen and dr. markgraf confirmed to come up with a new show playing with the idea of the table. we hope to find familiar participants then.

2011-10-27 galerie143 opens new group show on november 5, 2011

this autumn has still some exhibitions and festivals coming up. the next opening of a great group show featuring work by sven piayda will be the "offene galerie" show at galerie143 in dortmund.

the exhibition features single (or less than three) works by artists who have already worked with the gallery or will collaborate in the future.
sven piayda will contribute the 2010 piece "herbarium show".
the exhibition is curated by gallery head simone czech. all works are on sale.

the show will be opened on november 5, afternoon to evening, ending with a party. you shold not miss it.

2011-10-24 new AESTATE EP 'REMOUNT 3.10' out now

we are very happy to announce the new release by AESTATE. REMOUNT 3.10 is available free and digitally only on DIGITAL KUNSTRASEN now. the german/luxembourg label have already released the DOMINION EMPIRE EP in the beginning of 2010.

REMOUNT 3.10 is a new milestone for the group: for the first time electric guitars, basses and drums appear on a release appearing in a quite natural sound. as the group had promised for months, the new EP opens their music range from electronica to post rock. like DOMINION EMPIRE, REMOUNT 3.10 is believd to be part one of a twin EP bundle, EP #2 is scheduled for 2012, label and date tba.

in january 2010, the electro-duo aestate from the ruhr-area presented its experimental variety of electronical music here at dk - here comes some fresh supply. with "remount 3.10", gents piayda and huff present themselves more various than before, even some guitar sounds had been added to their acoustical universe. everybody who's enjoying the material shouldn't miss a live performance of aestate - complemented with suitable video-installations, "remount 3.10" becomes a total work of multimedia art as well.

last saturday, AESTATE performed at the KAUE, gelsenkirchen for FESTIVAL FREIE KULTUR. the performance appeard to be very different from the last gig in september. instead of a live guitar the guys added live camera and four projections. have a look at the live photos in the gallery section and at the snippets on facebook. more documentary material is about to be presented soon.

further live dates are not scheduleld for 2011, an AESTATE related DJ set is believed to be announced in december.

2011-10-11 AESTATE live at Festival Freie Kultur & 'lightyears' at KPR9, KAUE

on wednesday, october 19, the KAUE in gelsenkirchen will open the Festival Freie Kultur featuring two contributions by sven piayda.
the festival will run until sunday, october 23, featuring music performances, discussions, theater plays and even art exhibitions.

on saturday, october 22 around 10 pm AESTATE will perform audiovisual live at the KAUE. the group announced to create a different set-up compared to their perfomance at FZW in september. it will focus on their electronica and visual work.

parallel to the performances, the kunst peripherie ruhrstadt shows the KPR9 exhibition featuring an so far unseen video installation by sven piayda. 'lightyears' (2011) focusses on an unmanned probe deep in space, reminding of voyager I. as it is 1.78×10^10 km away from the earth and about to travel for lightyears, it is the farest way man-made object.
this also plays with the subtitle of the festival: hinterm tellerand.

2011-09-17 "tischsitten" at 'sohle 1' gallery open now

the staedtische galerie sohle 1 in bergkamen opened the new exhibition "tischsitten" yesterday.
the show features 18 positions in contemporary art concerning the table and it´s numerous meanings.
the show was opened and introduced by curator dr. ellen markgraf who gave detailed and precise information on every participating artist.

above you see dr. ellen markgraf chatting with sven piayda in front of his video installation "table dance".
the work gained great feedback and is well located in an extremely great selected and curated show.

the show will be open until november 13, 2011.
it is worth more than a single look, it is well curated and shows well selected works of a variety of disciplines exploring the deeper meaning of the familiar furniture.

Dabei erzeugt die wechselnde Dynamik Spannung und Entspannung, jedoch eine nicht abreißende Bewegung.

the staedtische galerie sohle 1 in bergkamen will open their new exhibition entitled "tischsitten" this friday, on september 16, 7 pm. the show will be introduced to y by curator dr. ellen markgraf.
sven piayda is expected to be present.
the group show feautures the video installation "table dance" by sven piayda. it will be the first time of showing the video piece from 2010.
we hope to see you at the opening of the show.

"tischsitten" opened until november 13.

2011-08-03 RENERT TRIO debut out now on digital kunstrasen

it is our massive pleasure to announce a new release featuring sven piayda. as we were waiting for new sounds from AESTATE, the new release is a new project with an unexpected sound.

AESTATE´s sven piayda, digital kunstrasen´s label boss meik puppe and rauschpuppe designer stephanie rausch form the new luxembourg-based lo-fi post-jazz supergroup RENERT TRIO. between impro-noise and this one unique moment of grace the debut album "BUTTERFLY TERROR" defines the group´s very own approach to post-postmodern sound far away from vanity.
the release appears experimental, combines blues and jazz, pop and percussive noise. going through the 13 tracks of the debut, you will be surprised how many different sounds you can generate with acoustic guitars.

the label info adds: the music on "butterfly terror" has come into existence without any arrangements, any notes, any rehearsals and any musical conception by one-time recording, the absence of any corrections an the fewest editing afterwards.

as the music was recorded last saturday night, it was very quickly put out by the bochum/luxembourg-based netlabel digital kunstrasen, which had already released music by meik puppe and AESTATE.
a new AESTATE EP on digital kunstrasen is scheduled for autumn.

2011-08-01 'the great escape' nominated for nassauer kulturpreis

now that the great exhibition "zeitgenössische stadtbilder" at d-52 is over we are happy to present the next public contributions by sven piayda. the KULT-UR-INSTITUT has nominated sven piayda´s short film "the great escape" for nassauer kulturpreis. the video work is based upon old anymous super 8 family footage which was used by permission. piayda edited and rearranged the material working out the parallelity between escaping the everyday life on sunday while filming it to escape again by "traveling in time" by watching it later. the short film refers to differet stations in time and the idea of going back to escape, physacally and mentally, probably the most powerful abaility of the medium of film and video. the video features music by AESTATE.

"the great escape" will be screened among 25 further nominees at different times and venues around nassau, germany.

as the weather is not really remining you on the actual season, we would like to focus your attention on a current exhibition featuring works by sven piayda.
d-52 gallery in düsseldorf still shows the exhibition on contemporary views on the concept of the city. the show features next to piayda twelve national artists of different disciplines.

CCTV (2010), the a collaboration piece between !mediengruppe bitnik and michaela best, is presented on a monitor in a dark room within the exhibition. the loop will be running six minutes after repeating, bring some time, it is worth the enigmatic experience and the probably boring life of the "big brother".
the work is also recently shown within the AUTOERASE video installation at galerie auf zeit in gelsenkirchen, see below.

Einen besonderen Schwerpunkt setzt die Ausstellung mit dem Medium der Fotografie, die sich in sehr vielfältiger Weise präsentiert: Sabine Rolli benutzt die alte Technik der Cyanotypie und schafft damit eine befremdende Distanz zur Gegenwart, während Sven Piayda seine Fotografie gänzlich am Computer überarbeitet und damit auf einem technisch ganz anderen Wege die Realitätsfrage thematisiert. Großformatige Malerei ist vertreten durch Roman Plocharczyk und Andreas M. Wiese. Das Medium der Installation ist vertreten durch Karla Leonhardt und Peter Müller. Leonhardt zeigt kleine, identische Gipsmodelle von Hochhäusern, die ihre Individualität durch die partielle Bemalung erhalten. Müller greift in seinen Modellen die funktionale und billige Bauweise von Supermärkten auf und nimmt ihnen durch die Verkleinerung ihre Zweckgebundenheit.

last friday, july 1, the d-52 gallery in düsseldorf opened the new exhibition on contemporary views on the concept of the city. the show features next to piayda twelve national artists of different disciplines.

before we can offer installation views and other website features we would like to offer some texts for preparation, german version only:

Die vierteilige Serie 'Last Effort' zeigt bei Nacht mit Blitzlicht entstandenen Fotografien. Sie wirken schnappschusshaft und unheimlich, der Ort könnte sowohl verlassen als auch sonst sehr belebt sein. Auch wenn keine Personen zu sehen sind, manifestieren sie sich in der Architektur, welche sich offenbar im Kampf mit der Natur befindet, die sich vom Mensch erobertes Territorial zurückzuerobern versucht. Jener Kampf scheint noch keinen klaren Sieger hervorzubringen, jedoch mag es auf die titelgebende letzte Bemühung einer Seite hinauszulaufen. So stellt die Kleinserie die Frage nach der Ästhetik, Nachhaltigkeit und Anspruch der Architektur. Die Bildserie ist für Piayda´s Arbeiten verhältnismäßig düster ausgefallen, doch auch hier verweißt er wiederum auf des Medium selbst: Die Fotografien dokumentieren den Ort nur ausschnitthaft und haben keinen Anspruch auf seine genaue Darstellung. Jedoch berühren sie mit ihrer rauen Oberfläche und ihrer Trostlosigkeit die emotionale Ebene des Betrachters und entlarven die manipulativen Möglichkeiten des Mediums.

In Kooperation mit der !Mediengruppe Bitnik und Michaela Best fing Piayda bei 'CCTV' frei empfangbare Signale von Überwachungskameras auf. Das gefundene Material wurde nur minimal editiert und zeigt reale Überwachungsbilder. Die Omnipräsenz von Medien, speziell von Überwachungskameras und den von ihnen erzeugten Bildern spielt der Paranoia zeitgenössischer Großstädter zu, die tatsächlichen Bilder überraschen jedoch mit ihrer Banalität und Abstraktheit. Das Resultat stellt die Frage nach der Notwenigkeit der heutigen Bilderflut: "Was kann man auf den Bildern erkennen?" und "Warum gibt es sie überhaupt?"

2011-06-15 sven piayda interview in coolibri blogbird

the coolibri blogbird (an up-to-date online offspring of the well known print magazine) has released an interview with sven piayda yesterday.
piayda talks about his approach to art, the production process and the connection to the region of north rhine-westphalia.
the interview is part number 10 of interviews with young visual artists of the region, the series also features an interview with oscar ledesma (see journal).
as the article was posted yesterday, we have recieved already a lot of positive feedback due facebook.
the interview is the first longer one after the 2007 interview for the 'reference' catalogue and the big solo show. it is still available for download.
the picture above shows piayda on the interview day in may, the picture was taken by chris huff for the article but it was not used for the feature.

2011-06-06 piayda´s 'AUTOERASE' at galerie auf zeit

sven piayda´s video work collection of different video works from 2010 and 2011 as 'AUTOERASE' will now be shown at the galerie auf zeit in gelsenkirchen. the work has been shown on saturday for the KPR VIDEO DAY and is now transferred to the gallery.
the gallery is setting up, so the exhibition is an interim exhibition without fixed opening hours. please make sure to contact the gallery before visiting.

2011-05-29 KPR VIDEO DAY with sven piayda´s 'AUTOERASE'

the KUNST PERIPHERIE RUHRSTADT projekt sieben is over and before the project #8 will come up in august, the KPR will do an one day exhibition featuring video art and movies.
sven piayda´s 'AUTOERASE' will also be part of the program, it is a collection of six video works from 2010 and 2011 wich are combined to focus on the surface and the idea of the disappearing image.
the collection was shown for the first time on easter sunday on the EGGXPO at atelier kuno lange.
the video works in 'AUTOERASE' are sea, big pollution, roses (after richter), eraser, cctv and landschap.
they are all available as single version editions.

still in good memory, the KPR#7 with cgi/photography. the upcoming video work will once again combine digital processing and manipulation uncovering the core of the image.

2011-05-16 KPR PROJEKT SIEBEN aftermath and upcoming shows

the KUNST PERIPHERIE RUHRSTADT projekt sieben is over again, that was a short exhibition giving an overview on the art scenen in and around the city of gelsenkirchen.
above you see piayda next to his works during the show closing.
the KPR announced to have wished for even more visitors but this was the first show (after the long delay) as association. projects #8 and #9 are already in the making, the KPR and piayda have mentioned to have interest in working together in the future.

2011-05-14 KPR PROJEKT SIEBEN open this weekend only

the KUNST PERIPHERIE RUHRSTADT opened the projekt sieben exhibition yesterday with a great introduction by dr. bernd a. gülker giving background information on the history of art marketing and selected position as found in the show. the opening was also escorted by different music performances.
the show featuring two works by sven piayda (ring and herbarium show) will be open this weekend only.
tonight will be the party night at the KPR, piayda is not expected for participation.

2011-05-06 KPR PROJEKT SIEBEN opens on friday, may 13

the KUNST PERIPHERIE RUHRSTADT is an organisation which focusses on presenting art, culture and performance in the ruht aera even after the big culture hype of 2010. the next KPR project PROJEKT SIEBEN will be opened on friday, may 13 2011 at 6 pm.
the exhibition is expected to present works and positions of about 18 artists.
sven piayda will paricipate for the first time at the KPR show. according to the show´s topic, piayda will show two photographs only, mixtures of photography and computer generated imagery. he is expected to be present on friday.

Die Kunstperipherie Ruhrstadt meldet sich mit dem Arbeitstitel „Teppiche + Ideen“ zurück um die kulturelle Landschaft auch in 2011 weiter zu bereichern. Am Wochenende vom 13.05. bis zum 15.05. werden Künstler und Kulturaktivisten in der Ahstraße in der Gelsenkirchener Innenstadt, vereint, um erneut unter Beweis zu stellen, dass die Peripherie mit Malerei, Fotografie, Installation, Lyrik und Musik einiges an Kunst und Kultur zu bieten hat. Höhepunkt ist die Künstlerlounge mit Musik und Partystimmung am Samstagabend. Eröffnet wird am Freitag um 18 Uhr mit einer Begrüßung durch Dr.Bernd A. Gülker (Kunsthistoriker).
Kunst Peripherie Ruhrstadt ist eine Veranstaltungsreihe zur Präsentation und Förderung regionaler Kunst. Ziel ist es, bildenden Künstlerinnen und Künstlern des Ruhrgebiets, auch nach den offiziellen Veranstaltungen der Kulturhauptstadt RUHR.2010 eine Plattform zu bieten. Mit diesem außergewöhnlichen Projekt wird die hiesige Kunst- und Kulturszene belebt und ein Zeichen für die Bewohner und ihre Stadt gesetzt.
Die Events finden in wechselnden Räumlichkeiten, die sich von den gewöhnlichen Ausstellungsorten, wie Museen, Galerien und Lokalen abheben, statt. Die Locations sind alleine schon durch ihre räumliche Wirkung extravagant. Die Künstler präsentieren ihre Werke dort in einem durch sie selbst dem Raum angepassten Konzept, welches durch ein adäquates Rahmenprogramm abgerundet wird.
Die Ausstellung Projekt VII umfasst mit verschiedensten ausstellenden Künstlern Malerei, Bildhauerei, Installation, Fotografie und vieles mehr. Neben Vertretern der Gelsenkirchener Kunstszene freuen wir uns auch auf Gäste aus den Nachbarstädten. Unter anderem werden Werke von Kerstin Brix (Malerei), Roger Löcherbach (Holzskulptur) und Sven Piayda (Fotografie) zu bestaunen sein. Aber wie immer ist nicht nur ein Ausstellungsprogramm der besonderen Art gerade gut genug, auch das musikalische, kulturelle und literarische Rahmenprogramm hat einiges zu bieten: Am Freitag präsentieren wir eine Lesungs-Performane zum Musical "Mir ist die Welt abhanden gekommen" von Dirk Schattner,welches im August 2011 in Bayreuth Premiere feiert und im Anschluss den Essener Musiker Bernd Mehring.
Am Samstag treten der Bochumer Singer/Songwriter Tommy Finke und der Duisburger Pop und Bluesmusiker Maik Schneemilch auf. Danach sind alle herzlich eingeladen mit DJ Trocka eine Künstlerparty zu feiern. Die in die Ausstellung integrierte Kunst-Lounge ist der Kommunikationsbereich, Treffpunkt und Bar zugleich.
Das Projekt VII findet diesmal in der Ahstraße. 18 Gelsenkirchen/City statt.

kevin winterberg should be well-know for recent svennet readers. the azalea author gave a view to his orientation when it comes to music, he contributed his top five from 2010 for the heavy rotation list. additionally he added already two remixes to AESTATE related remix releases. more to come...

the EGGXPO show is over and all paricipating artists and visitors agreed that this was a great way to spend easter. recently there are no fixed plans for an EGGXPO in 2012, but after ther great success of this year it seems possible.

yesterday two great group shows featuring work by sven piayda closed. FRISCH ZUBEREITET at ludwig galerie schloss oberhausen (showing roses (after richter)) and LICHT at QQTec in hilden (showing dormancy and insomnia) have closed.
both shows gained great response.
sven piayda joined the finissage at qqtec in hilden, next group shows are scheduled for 2012 and 2013, we hope for participation.expected to be present at the qqtec closing.

new AESTATE album CARBONIZED out april 18
finally, after waiting for years for a follow up to the 2008 release SUPERFLAT zany music will release the new AESTATE album entitled CARBONIZED. the release features eight tracks and has an overall length of 79.57 min. the artwork is based on the cgi/ photograph "herbarium show" by sven piayda this time the group it not releasing any sounds or videos, but new audivisual material is supposed to be presented live.

new AESTATE album CARBONIZED out april 18
finally, after waiting for years for a follow up to the 2008 release SUPERFLAT zany music will release the new AESTATE album entitled CARBONIZED. the release features eight tracks and has an overall length of 79.57 min. the artwork is based on the cgi/ photograph "herbarium show" by sven piayda this time the group it not releasing any sounds or videos, but new audivisual material is supposed to be presented live.

working with amateurs is always dangerous, so we have to admit the cancellation of AESTATE´s performance at DEW21. after changing the date and location first, the line-up is now changed.

2011-03-26 QQTEC: LICHT exhibition feat. dormancy/insomnia open

yesterday the qqtec gallery in hilden opened the new group show entitled LICHT (light). the show features different ways of interpreting and working with light. among 21 other artists, the exhibition contains two photographs from 2010 by sven piayda, dormancy and insomnia. the show will be running until april 10, 2011, and will end with two prizes, given by the audience and a jury.

above you see sven piayda in the exhibition next to his works. the two processed photographs gained great feedback and inspired many visitors to very interesting and personal interpretations.

"Sven Piayda reflektiert in "Dormancy" und "Insomina" wie auch in seinen anderen Foto- und Videoarbeiten das Medium selbst. Beide Arbeiten sind grob als Landschaftsbilder angelegt und irritieren den Betrachter durch ihre eigenwillige und ungewohnte Lichtsetzung. Bei genauerer Betrachtung erklärt sich die Irritation durch die Erwartungshaltung an das Medium der Fotografie: Das Wissen, dass ein Foto normalerweise nur die Zeitspanne eines Sekundenbruchteils dokumentiert, wird zum Wanken gebracht, denn es finden sich jeweils zwei Zeitpunkte innnerhalb eines Bildes wieder, Tag und Nacht. Sie begegnen sich in Form von Himmel und Landschaft. Somit ist das Licht in der Fotografie (also "Lichtmalerei") wieder nur Mittel zum Zweck, um nicht etwa auf sich selbst, sondern auf die Zeit zu verweisen. Digitale Manipulation ist stets (wenn auch oft weniger offensichtlich) Bestandteil von Piaydas Werken, jedoch nicht als Selbstzweck, sondern als Mittel der absoluten Kontrolle über ein Bild. Diese Arbeitsweise dient zum einen als Medienkritik: Die Fotografie emanzipiert sich von der Realität. Zum anderen stellt sie ein Fenster zur Erinnerung und Emotion des Betrachters dar.

Die technische Umsetzung gestaltete sich für beide Arbeiten als aufwendiger Prozess, denn jeweils konträre Lichtsituationen sollten harmonisch zu einem Bild montiert werden. Hierbei wurde Fotomaterial verwendet, welches - wie in den Bilden zu sehen - am tatsächlichen Ort entstanden ist und den tatsächlichen Himmel über der jeweiligen Landschaft zeigt. Hierzu war ein langes Verweilen am jeweiligen Ort vonnöten und führte zu den gleichermaßen vertraut wie irritierend wirkenden Fotoarbeiten."

2011-03-11 michaela best and sven piayda at EGGXPO 2011

it is our big pleasure to announce the participation of michaela best and sven piayda at the 2011 EGGXPO exhibition at atelier kuno lange.

the show is opening for the fifth time and as every year on easter saturday and sunday, this time on april 23 and 24. next to the exhibition which will feature around 16 artists, there will be a program escorting the show.
all shown objects will be available for sale. next to this you will be able to win certain artworks in the EGGXPO lottery which is giving you the chance to win contemporary art for a very small effort.

michaela best and sven piayda are participating for the first time at the EGGXPO. best is expected to show unique embroidery work and the never before shown "tv test pattern" piece.
sven piayda will show new cgi/photographs from 2010 and even 2011, the correct quanity isn´t known yet. the invitation card even announces video installations, but it is to soon to tell more or to comment this announcement.

2011-03-04 AESTATE PROV AIIDA EP out now

when zany music released SUPERFLAT back in 2008 no-one could imagine how far it would take the group and how successul the album would become. SUPERFLAT became an impact, the group defined their very own position within the electronic music scene somewhere between idm, experimental, electronica and post rock - all in a strange way based upon pop music. having a release with a long breath, a follwow up was delayed as far as possible, the album was followed by a live DVD, a remix album and two EPs on two different labels plus remixes and single track contributions to different projects.

now the SUPERFLAT-era will be closed, a new album is scheduled for april 18 (trailer will be up within the next weeks). to celebrate the great album and end the era, zany music is releasing a full EP around one of SUPERFLAT´s most appreciated tracks:
the PROV AIIDA EP.
it features next to a short edit of the original track the chris huff remix from PATCH, further remixes by PATCH remixers as ampK, randomform and squinancywort as well as new remixes by anvers and sven piayda.
the cover features a still from the official video as produced by the group and the classic corporate writing in a slightly hidden way.

the EP will be available digitally only and is free.

even if the KUNST PERIPHERIE RUHRSTADT gig was cancelled, the gig at the VJ CONVENTION at domicil dortmund was confirmed. additionally, AESTATE have mentioned to play at KPR#7 wehn it will be taken up.

2011-02-21 frisch zubereitet at ludwig galerie open now

yesterday the ludwig galerie oberhausen opened the frisch zubereitet exhibition. the response was great and granted a full museum. like in the press conference, dr. christine vogt gave some short info on evey work and position exhibited within the show.

the feedback was great and we expect more documentay material. above you habe a look into the exhibition with the roses (after richter) piece.
as you see it is shown on a flat screen. many possibillities had been discussed, and this exhibition appeard to be the best one. now it looks like a "picture on a wall with time", sven piayda explained later.

sven piayda´s roses (after richter) had been planned and concepted even back in 2009 but was produced in 2010. it was exhibitid in the "blatt und dorn" art show at burgmuseum horn, see picture above. the work did not recieve any prize, but it was believed to ba a favourite due it´s perfect concept and production.

it is our massive pleasure to announce the opening of the annual art show curated by the arbeitskreis oberhausener künstler entitled frisch zubereitet at ludwig galerie schloss oberhausen. the exhibition will feature sven piayda´s high appreciated video installation roses (after richter).

the show is intended to present works of different disciplines by regional visual artists. the title frisch zubereitet (prepared fresh) relates to the date of production: all works have been produced within the last year.

sven piayda´s roses (after richter) had been planned and concepted even back in 2009 but was produced in 2010. it was exhibitid in the "blatt und dorn" art show at burgmuseum horn, see picture above. the work did not recieve any prize, but it was believed to ba a favourite due it´s perfect concept and production.

update 2011-02-14: caused by problems concerning issues, the KUNST PERIPHERIE RUHRSTADT PROJEKT #7 (which was scheduled for march 4-6) will be cancelled and delayed. AESTATE confirmed to play live on friday night, now that the event will not take place as planned the gig will not be performed. AESTATE and KPR habe confirmed to catch up the performence when the project #7 is accomplished.
good news: even when the performance is delayed, there is output: zany music will end the SUPERFLAT-era by releasing the PROV AIIDA EP on friday, march 4. the ep contains next to a short edit of the original track, the well known remix by chris huff (from PATCH) plus new remixes by ampK, anvers, sven piayda, randomform and squinancywort. the release will be available for free and digital only.

as we a trying to pass on any and always the latest news concerning AESTATE (above you see the first picture of the group from 2011, new press photos to be made), we have great news for you. confirming the rumours on a third album, huff and piayda have finished to work on their third album, we will have more news on this very soon.
before it will be out, you should watch out to download the prov aiida ep, a collection of edits and remixes of one of the most popular tracks from superflat.
it will probably out in a month...

2011-01-25 AESTATE´s squinancywort remix in the /CAMP

since collaborating for the first time in 2008, manchester based electronica act squinancywort became a fixed institution when it comes to make remixed for AESTATE. we expect a new digital only release in march featuring a new remix by squinancywort.

before the remix will be available, phil (the producer behind squinancywort) announced to plan also a collection of remixes of his tracks. AESTATE have created a remix of the track "strobatolite", you can listen to the original via soundcloud as embedded below:

the AESTATE remix is recently available via the /CAMP only, plus only for limited time. make sure you still have your log in data for the /CAMP, or ask us for username and password here.
the AESTATE version is believed to sound a little bit like post rock, the group had already announced to open their sound. find out yourself and be part of the transformation!

the /CAMP got a facelift again and will soon feature the AESTATE OBH HDJ SET from a performance in 2009 at the opernbauhütte, directly after the opera! (see above)

2011-01-07 the hammes collection shows piayda´s tableaus 05-10

we are happy to announce this exhibition, which is unfortunately not compleatly public. in summer 2010 the hammes collection bought two works from sven piayda which then where exhibited within the kalkgestalen foundation exhibition and are now part of the hammes collection. "green", 2009 and "blown away", 2010, are now part of the collection and available for private viewing. the works are expected not to be shown on further exhibitions now, so take your chance to find a date for private viewing.

next to the new additions, the hanging also shows a formaly forgotten work: "strand", 2005, was one of the first tableaus ever made and is a collaboration between jay hammes and sven piayda. the work was not featured on the website/online catalogue before, now it has been added to the projects-section on the photography site.
"strand" is an unique work and only exhibited at the hammes collection for private viewing.

we hope to announce public exhibitions very soon!

first of all: happy new year to all of you. this year AESTATEvisual and solo woman artist michaela best as well as author and mastermind producer behind ampK (also referred as greatK on PATCH) kevin winterberg tell - next to sven piayda - their favourite and most played albums of the year 2010. as always this will give some background on inspiration and some pre-echos of the upcoming: best and winterberg are fix collaborators for AESTATE, back in the past of 2010 and the new year.
