2005-12-30 2005 synopsis: past, present and future

that´s it again. 2005 is over, so let us have a look back. 2005 was a long year and a short year, it was hard and successful. sven´s electronica group sellafield released the second album random and made a little but outstanding tour.
the dissident(en) club released the second album science fiction (a masterpiece and highly praised and good selling record) and also had some outstanding gigs like the one in the musiktheater im revier.
at least sven remixed a day at the sea of his solo debut album portrait from 1999 and released it with representative songs from every albums from sven, dc and sfd. the collection is called retrospective excerpt and gives a good overview on the past six years of sven´s soundworks.
what about now?
sven said, and this is no rumour, he already has songs for the next sven album, only lyrics have to compleated and the songs need to be recorded. additionally, sellafield also have recorded about two hours of new material. sven mentioned on sellafield-online.com that the new tracks are more deconstructed and full of tiny details but grooving like a cracked robot. the new tracks sound dirty and are close to the limits of digital production, so the next sellafield release will be really state of the art and even more surprising than sfd have done before. the working title for the new album is interim static.
the dissident(en) club is also working on new stuff. science fiction was a so unbelievable good album, so the dissidents said, they will not copy what they have done before, they are looking for new borders.
so what can we expect?
everything is in a process now, if we read the signs properly we can say:
it seems like there will definitly be a new sellafield album in 2006.
we also hope for a new sven album but nothing is save.
the dissident(en) club also hasn´t confirmed anything but making another outstanding record. we must be happy with this infos for the moment.

2005-12-12 sven piayda - retrospective excerpt : limited edition give-away

as we all wait for the free download of a day at the sea 2005 zany music has created something very special for the christmas time. although zany music and svennet offer so much free music for download, many people started requests for tiny cds to get an idea on sven´s musical manoeuvres. in 2004 zm released portfolio, a limited five track ep, featuring songs from sven, even unreleased versions of she´s fragile and maisonette sunset, see below.

this time it was a little bit more difficult, because sven recorded so much with his two main projects dissident(en) club and sellafield.
it would have been incomplete to simply concentrate on his solo work, so the new limited collection illustrates his wide range of styles from rock to industrial, pop to avantgarde and electronica to noise - all on one disc for the first time. the tracklist can bee seen in the image above, next to the cover. as you see (hopefully) each track represents a certain album.
and: a day at the sea 2005 will be featured on this release only.

2005-11-29 a day at the sea 2005 mix available 2005-12-19 / more to listen to

this is a tricky year. as you may gave read in sven´s journal, he is currently working on a new solo album, but he also mentioned that it does not progress the way he wants it to. anyway, although all recordings seem to slumber a little there are many dates to listen to sven´s or sven related music:

1. a day at the sea 2005 mix

the fantastic song from sven´s 1999 debut album portrait had been remixed by the mastermind himself and will be available 2005-12-19 and later - here on svennet for download, absolutely free! sven said, the 2005 remix will be not very electronic or different, it will be close to the idea of this song, giving it the direction, which was intended in 1999, but impossible for technical reasons. before you can download the song (which is actually a masterpiece) you can already watch the video here.

2. sellafield webcast 2005

sven´s audiovisual electronica project sellafield will come up with a webcast, illustrating what the collective did on its tour last summer. the exact date will be revealed soon on svennet and sellafield-online.com

3. dissident(en) club´s ende offen featured in dante´s devine comedy

bernd matzkowski is going to use "ende offen", one of the most powerful songs on the dissidents new album "science fiction" as part of dantes "divine comedy" (part i.: l’inferno) which he produces for the heisenberg gymnasium, gladbeck.

2005-11-07 hh neumann and sven piayda working on new sfd. stuff

tomorrow sellafield´s hh neumann and sven piayda will continue to work together on new stuff for upcoming live performances as well as on material for the upcoming cd/dvd "sense check". according to sven, the material for a third sellafield album is nearly finished, only a few things are left to be done. he admitted that they have about twenty full tracks produced, only eleven will be featured on the new album. additionally, three or four of these tracks will be used for "sense check" as well. other tracks will be taken from the released sellafield albums "random" and "permutations".
sven also said, the progress on the new solo album develops quite slow only, so no release date or time for new sounds cannot be told right now. but still, the release for "a day at the sea 2005" is scheduled for december 2005. you can already watch the video here.

2005-11-01 herpes and sven at art cologne

every year in the end of october you can meet sven at the art cologne, this time with herpes gugushi (see picture above) an some more people. sven reported to be happy to join the fair again (he an art cologne fan since 2000), but he also mentioned to be a little bit disappointed. according to him the fair was a lot smaller than the years before, and the exhibitioned art seemed a little bit disoriented, only a couple of highlights. this didn´t stop the two "dissidents" to spend much money on magazines and catalogues of their favourite artists:
herpes bought everything from wolfgang tillmans, sven took everything he could get from jeff wall. you can see how strongly they are coined by these artists if you have a look at their visual work on herpesgugushi.com and svenpiayda.com. have a look.
the dissident(en) club will record new stuff in the next months, a well as sven is playing around with ideas for a new solo album, so let´s see...

2005-10-27 sven on newcomer posters again / new boarders

first of all, sven is in a very good mood again (check the journal), we just want you to know. still a little disoriented he is fixing the new borders now, you will understand later in this text.
as you can see above, sven's image has been taken again for the newcomer festival, the new version can be seen on the left, last year's version in the middle and, of course, the original picture on the right. the image was taken during the dissident(en) club performance in bielefeld, march 2004, supporting einstürzende neubauten.

2005-09-23 visuals on svennet: watch the videos / site updates

ok then, here are so many goodies for you. first of all, sven told a lot about his plans for the future: new photographs, a new solo album, a sellafield cd and dvd and new recordings with the dissident(en) club, of course. before all these things are going to happen, there is a lot non-musical work to do. because of that, there won't be many great updates on svennet for the next weeks. but as we want the waiting period for you to be as short and entertaing as possible, we updated a lot. so what's new?
from now on svennet features the visuals section, all videos (promos and live shots) can be watched there. next to the "mine" video (and dc and sfd videos) you can also watch the "a day at the sea video" which features the 2005 mix. sven said, this mix is much closer to the intention of the song, so the mp3 of this new mix will be available on svennet around chrismas., well, have fun, enjoy.
also, we updated the design a little bit, you know, sven is very interested in design and art, so the visual appearance of svennet is as important as the sound. also: not only the surface was lifted, even the audio-visual stuff was re-programmed to work on as many browsers as possible. that´s it.

now, in september 2005 we can celebrate the 6^th anniversary of sven´s groundbreaking debut album "portrait". therefore sven started producing a remix of the metamorphing song "a day at the sea" according to sven, the 2005 remix will be not very electronic or different, it will be close to the idea of this song, giving it the direction, which was intended in 1999, but impossible for technical reasons.

2005-08-31 slow down, go fast - new borders 2006

as we all enjoy the last days of summer, sven comes up with new plans for 2006. first of all, all planned activities, live performances, recordings and features are delayed - except the dissident(en) club gig on september 10^th.
so here are the plans for winter 2005 and spring 2006:
1) a new photography site. yes, the new ways of images production are becoming more importand than expected. updates here, first of all.
2) sellafield will release their cd/dvd "sense check" and a third full legth album. you can´t wait that log? sure, check the sfd.database for remixes and images (like the one on the right, above). find the right link to sellafield here
3) we recieved a lot of emails, actually, asking, if sven will do a new solo album. many of these questioners are a little confused, asking if sven has lost his interest in modern rock music. as you see on the image above (yeah, the left one) sven wanted to find out how he looks in front of a marshall full stack. sven says, he is recently concentrating on writing songs again and he hopes to record and release a fourth(!) solo album in 2006.
4) there will no baunachten this year, but there might be a new borders festival instead. nothing´s save. we´ll see, find out here.

also: sven explores new ways of image production:

sven had used his days off for some relaxing and walking - always with a camera, he says. sven reported quite proud, that he had explored a new way of image production: tender manipulated digital images up to 11(!) megapixels big, that look a lot deeper and vivid than ordinary shots. you may see what is meant if you look at the image above.
sven is still working on this series, but it will not be featured on his photography site, and these images will not be exhibitioned. he said, he is thinking about a book showing these strong and magic images.

2005-08-03 sellafield live tour finished: interview, photos and video snippets

sellafield have finished thier live tour. now there is a new interview by alina mori. here neumann and piayda talk about the last tour and expecially the final live tour performance at halle luja, the problems, the audience feedback and new plans for live tours and releses. the interview can be found here.

2005-07-01 sellafield releases new album "random" on monday

sellafield, the avandgarde electronica project featuring sven, will release their second album "random" on monday. the group is known for their exremely abstract sounds, videos and images. the new album is even more deconstructed and wired than the debut album. this time the collective also collaborated with herpes gugushi for the track "pen complaint". you can download an edited version of a new sellafield track called "elbsane" here.

2005-06-25 dissident(en) club live at rosamunde aftermath

wow, that was hot. the dissident(en) club played live at rosamunde last night. although it was just a little club gig, the band rocked the house. for the first time they played a very long set, about two hours including two encores. they really sounded very noisy and punklike on the one hand, but also very spheric and rockesque on the other.
some of the fans said that this was their best gig so far, sorry if you missed it.
herpes did a great performance, jumping, dancing, creeping, although he had a bad cold, so, get well soon!

the band managed to get some new fans so they had to sign many cds after the show, above you see sven, herp and holy writing their names on the perfectly designed and manufactured science fiction cds.

2005-05-09 new dissident(en) club album science fiction out 2005-06-20

it seems to be true: after many hours of recording the dissident(en) club has scheduled their next release science fiction for june 20^th 2005. according to the band the new album will sound even better and will come up with even better songs and sounds than the 2004 release gift. if you were one of the lucky ones who had the chance to see the dissident(en) club live in the last months you might imagine the new sounds. everything seems to be a little bit more homogenic, queer as always but a little bit more pop. you cannot imagine? anyway, you won´t have to wait so long anymore. next to the album the band also releases a digital single entitled sonne. sleeve design and full tracklists will be revealed within the next weeks - so don't miss it!

2005-04-26 first new sounds from sellafield on svennet radio v2.0

we are very happy to present svennet radio v2.0 with first new sounds from sellafield.

2005-04-17 dissident(en) club live @ musiktheater im revier aftermath

the dissident(en) club did a great (but also a very short) gig @ mir for the mischpoche nachtschalter. they played even new songs from the forthcoming album. dc gained good critics all the way, although they created a little disorientation in the mixed-up audience. photos from the gig and new press images coming up. also: sven took photos for the cover and inset artwork for the new album yesterday. it is going to feature a very special band portrait...

2005-04-03 new sellafield album to be released in summer 2005

although sven has been working with dissident(en) club on the new dc album there was also time to work with his abstract idm electronica collective sellafield on the new album. according to sven the new album "random" is finished (maybe there are some little things to do) and will be even more abstract and wired than the debut "permutations", but, so he says, it is even more melodic and easygoing on other parts. the album will feature a simple and very beautiful minimal artwork and will come up with two different covers. so far, no images are on the net, so if there are images you will find out here. next to the new release, "timber" (2004) from record of tides will be added to the back catalogue of sellafield.

2005-03-22 dissident(en) club live at the musiktheater im revier

the dissident(en) club will have one of its rare live performances on 2005-04-15 in the musiktheater im revier, gelsenkirchen. the group will perform only four or five songs (also new songs from the forthcoming album) directly under one of yves klein´s installations. sven said, he really is over the moon to see dc within the context of the arts. "this is really exiting" he said, "everything comes together what fits together in this special place: music, fine arts, acting and of course a little humour. additionally we are doing this for good purposes, collecting money for a good thing by simply doing what we do anyway is fantastic. these days working with the dissident(en) club is the greatest fun to me."

2005-02-25 the soundtrack for the waiting period for new sven album

first of all, it looks like as if zany music will not release the next sven album in 2005. we are sorry to tell you so. but here are three good reasons to feel better:
1. according to sven it is planned to write and and maybe record the new songs for a new album in autumn or winter this year. nothing's save so far.
2. sven is also working with sellafield on new tracks. so far, there is no release date for 2005 planned, there is even just a rumour on the working title: "random" (remember, it is a rumour)
3. sven is also working with the dissident(en) club on the follow up album for "gift". according to the rising sign label, the new dc album is scheduled for late spring or summer 2005. (sven said the first versions sound better than everything this group did before.)

last friday herpes was featured as special guest on bernd matzkowski´s nachtschalter comedy show. bernd and herpes interpreted a special version of a fouthcoming so for untitled dissident(en) club song. the lyrics had been modified a little - a satire on the ex-major of gelsenkirchen. sven joined the show simply as a guest - so a female fan could take a picture of herpes and sven after the show.
